Chubb names new Continental Europe COO

Property and casualty insurance company Chubb has named Adrian Matthews chief operating officer for the Continental Europe region.

Matthews, who has worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years, currently serves as executive VP and zonal leader major accounts for Chubb’s Canada, Midwest and Northeast regions in North America.

“Adrian is a great addition to our team,” Chubb Continental Europe Division President Jeff Moghrabi said in a press release. “His appointment reflects Chubb’s commitment to making full use of its top talent to share knowledge and best practice internationally. In a mature insurance market such as Continental Europe, Adrian’s leadership, experience and proven track record in one of our busiest US regions will be a great asset.”

Matthews is replacing Steve Reiss, who is now in charge of the company’s North American Real Estate and Hospitality Industry Practice.

Matthews previously held the role of COO for the Midwest region of Chubb. He has also been a primary casualty underwriting manager for ACE and served in underwriting positions at Hartford Insurance and Royal Insurance.

He will begin his new role before the end of the first quarter.
